I think I mentioned in an earlier post that my brother recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan and that part of his homecoming wishes was that we go on a family trip. We decided to go on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. It was a bit of a chore getting this vacation booked as everyone had their ten cents to add. Brian (brother) wanted to go out of the country and do something adventurous--he's only 25 and still living life on the edge. My parents just wanted to do something fun, safe and cost effective. Ron and I didn't really care as long as we didn't go to any of the places we had been before. So after discussing a million and a half different ideas and possible destinations we settled on a cruise to the Western Caribbean.
The
cruise was awesome and catered to all of our different tastes. We ported in Grand Cayman, Roatan, Cozumel. My mom and I shopped in the little villages while the boys took tours, rented mopeds, and snorkeled. Quite possibly the best 10 days I can recall in a long time.
If you need a relaxing and restful vacation choose a cruise. There is no cell phone or internet service, unless you want to pay an astronomical amount---something like 75 cents a minute for internet!! The food is fantastic and always available and the staff on the ships are wonderful. You literally get on and go and have to nothing for yourself. Anyway, we had a great time and it was so nice spending some quality time with my brother and family.
