antlers

So my doggies have been getting cabin fever already (I know, fall has just begun and I'm sure it will only get worse from here).   The weather has turned and they are not swimming on the weekends or going on marathon walks.  To help cope with the boredom, I decided to buy them a 'treat'.  The treat was big bag of natural rawhide bones.  I do NOT know what I was thinking!  Turns out Cooper, the golden, likes to high tail it outside with his and dig it in one of my flower beds.  It gets better.  He gives the bone time cure in the dirt, which is normally a few days and then digs it up and drops at my feet this muddy, soggy, smelly bone.

Since today was no exception to his little game I tossed their rawhides and bought them some naturally shed elk antlers.  The dogs love, LOVE, love them.  You have to get the ones that split in half so they can easily get to the marrow.  Even the chewer of chewers will be chewing for weeks, if not months.  They don't splinter, they are colorless, and they don't stink.  It's wonderful!
